According to the Act of July 20, 2018, the Law on Higher Education and Science, third-cycle studies will cease to exist in their current form. According to the provisions of the new Act, doctoral studies may take the form of Doctoral Schools from October 1, 2019. However, in PJAIT, for candidates commencing research after October 1, 2019, currently the only form of applying for a doctoral degree in the field of Technical Informatics and Telecommunications is extramural doctoral proceedings (link).

Doctoral studies commenced before the 2019/2020 academic year are conducted based on the existing rules, but no longer than until December 31, 2023.
