Scholarships

This scholarship is awarded once a semester, at the beginning of the winter and summer semesters, for achievements from the previous semester. It is awarded on the basis of the number of points earned (method of conversion below) - from the 2025/26 academic year, points for the average and for achievements add up.

The rector's scholarship can be applied for by students who have no overdue subjects (classes or exams), are not immediately after an ITN (individual period of study/conditional pass) semester, and are not currently (during the application period) on such a semester. The number of points is calculated based on the grade point average – it is a decimal number, which means that an average of 4.75 equals 75 points, and an average of 5.00 equals 100 points. 

As for achievements, each achievement is scored accordingly. Achievements are taken into account only if they relate to the previous semester and if they are properly documented (certificate from the organizer, diploma). A student can include achievements of each type one each (artistic, scientific and sports).

Ranking lists are generated separately for each field of study based on the points earned. The Rector's Scholarship may be awarded to a maximum of 10% of the top students in a given field of study (starting from the highest score), which means that despite achieving good or very good academic results, a scholarship might not be granted. The award and amount of the scholarship also depend on the subsidy for the given calendar year, as well as the number of social scholarships and financial aid grants awarded. 

The Scholarship Committee of the academy may set a minimum average grade required to apply for the scholarship.

Students who hold a valid disability certificate or a certificate of total or partial incapacity for work may apply for the scholarship for students with disabilities. The amount of the scholarship depends on the degree of disability.

In the case of a disability certificate issued by institutions in a country other than Poland, it is necessary to obtain such a certificate from authorized institutions in Poland.

The deadline and procedure for applying for financial aid are the same as for the scholarship.

Financial aid is a one-off, non-repayable benefit granted upon request to a student who has temporarily found themselves in a difficult life situation. To apply for financial aid, you must submit an application (form available for download here) with a detailed description of your situation and attach documents that confirm it (this may include a notice of termination, an employer's statement on the suspension of work benefits, etc.).

Financial aid can be applied for twice per academic year. Applications cannot be submitted twice on the same grounds.

All students who are in a difficult material situation may apply for a social grant. The absolute condition is a monthly per capita income of no more than PLN 1908.9, but the income criterion is an auxiliary, not a decisive criterion, which in practice means that showing a low per capita income is not tantamount to receiving a scholarship. In some cases, the student may be asked to provide sources of income in addition to those shown in the documentation attached to the application.

1. Family composition:

In addition to the student themselves, the family composition includes:

• spouse, if the student is married,
• student's children who are minors or older, provided they are under 26 years of age and still studying – a birth certificate or a school certificate is required,
• or
• parents, legal or de facto guardians (in the event that one of the parents is deceased, a death certificate must be provided; in the case of divorced parents, a court judgment),
• Minor siblings (up to 18 years of age) or older siblings (up to 26 years of age), if they are still studying and dependent on their parents - a birth certificate or certificate from the school is required. If it is a person with a confirmed disability, it counts as part of the family regardless of age. Siblings who live separately and support themselves do not count as part of the family.

If a student plans to provide only his or her income without including parents and siblings, he or she must submit an affidavit of self-reliance (this is included in the scholarship application) and meet one of the conditions: being at least 26 years old, being married, having a dependent child, coming of age in foster care, or having a permanent source of income greater than PLN 1866.4 (permanent, i.e. in the previous calendar year and the current year).

2. How to determine income?

All types of income—whether or not they are included in the income required to calculate the scholarship—are listed in the regulations. Among the most common: alimony, if received by the student, is included in the income. The 500+ benefit is not included. Allowances are not included.

Income documentation:

1. Demonstrating income requires submitting original documents. When submitting applications electronically, you must attach scans of the originals. 
2. The maximum monthly income per person in the family, which entitles one to apply for a social scholarship, is PLN 1908.9. This is a non-exceedable income, which means that if this income is exceeded even by 1 zloty, the scholarship cannot be awarded.
3. Every adult family member, even if they are studying and not working (or are retired), should obtain a certificate of earnings from the tax office and a certificate of paid contributions from ZUS (Social Insurance Institution). The PIT tax return submitted to the tax office is not proof of income.
4. If a family member runs a business and is taxed under a tax card or lump-sum system, they should obtain a certificate from the tax office showing their revenue and, very importantly, the tax rate percentage. To calculate the income, the student will need the table published annually in the form of an announcement (around the turn of July and August). The current table can be found here.
5. If any family member has income from a farm, they should obtain a certificate from the municipal office regarding the number of conversion hectares. This number is multiplied by the amount provided by Statistics Poland (GUS) around September 20th to determine the income from the farm. If the student (or a family member) owns land in different locations, you must sum up the conversion hectares for each of them and calculate it as for a single farm. If the total number of conversion hectares (for all owned land combined, not for individual plots) is less than 1, it is not considered a farm under the regulations, and its value is not calculated based on conversion hectares.
6. It is necessary to provide a statement from a social welfare center about the student's economic and income situation, if the income per person in the family is equal to PLN 823 or less. Students under the care of such a center, should receive a certificate on the economic situation of the family, if they are not covered - they should get a written refusal to issue such a certificate.
7. It is still possible to apply for a social scholarship in an increased amount, but ONLY IN PARTICULARLY JUSTIFIED CASES. This means that the situation of the person applying for the increase is exceptional compared to other people who meet the conditions for receiving the scholarship. A particularly justified case is such a "life situation of a person or family, which beyond any doubt, without the need for in-depth interpretative efforts regarding the existing state of affairs, allows to state that such drastic, highly consequential, and far-reaching events interfering with life plans do not belong to everyday events, nor even to extraordinary events. These are events occurring completely occasionally, requiring many unfortunate coincidences, exceeding the capabilities of human precaution" (Judgment of the Supreme Administrative Court of August 28, 2008, II OSK 1416/07, LEX No. 489088). "The special cases referred to in Article 41 point 1 of the Social Assistance Act must be so expressive and deviate from the situation of persons meeting the income criterion that they justify granting this special assistance, which consequently leads to equating the situation of persons achieving incomes exceeding the income threshold adopted by the legislator with the situation of persons who do not obtain such incomes" (Judgment of the Provincial Administrative Court in Gliwice of April 15, 2008, IV SA/Gl 1550/07, LEX No. 509368). In a word, a scholarship in an increased amount can be granted to someone who has suddenly found themselves in a situation that drastically changes their life and plans, and which could neither be foreseen nor prevented.
8. Achieved and lost income is a strictly defined and closed catalog of incomes that can be subtracted or added (the list is in the regulations). In special cases, such income cannot be subtracted – if a student concludes a mandate contract with the same employer more than once, and no more than 3 months pass between one contract and the other, it is treated like income from an employment contract.
9. Living expenses, loans, or tuition fees are not deducted from the income included in the application.
10. For students reporting income in foreign currency, convert the income into zlotys according to the exchange rate of the National Bank of Poland on the last working day of the previous calendar year. On the NBP website, search for exchange rates, select archival rates (e.g., the hryvnia will be in Table A, the Belarusian ruble in Table B), select the year (the previous calendar year) and month (December), when the search results are displayed, select the latest day, e.g., December 27, and then select the appropriate currency.
    

Students who started their studies in the 2018/19 academic year or earlier:

All types of scholarships and financial aid can be applied for by students who:

• hold a permanent residence permit,
• hold a Pole's Card (Karta Polaka),
• have been granted refugee status in Poland,
• have been granted temporary protection in the territory of Poland,
• are citizens of European Union member states, EFTA member states, or the Swiss Confederation, as well as members of their families.

If a student does not meet any of these conditions, he or she cannot apply for any of the benefits listed above.

Students who began their studies in the 2019/20 academic year or later:

Students who meet one of the following conditions may apply for all types of scholarships:

• are citizens of a member state of the European Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Iceland or a member of their family living in Poland,
• have a permanent residence permit (permanent residence card),
• Are long-term residents of the European Union,
• have a temporary residence permit to reunite with their families (the exact conditions are specified in the Aliens Act, Article 159(1) or Article 186(1)(3) or (4)),
• have been granted refugee status in Poland or enjoy temporary protection or subsidiary protection in the territory of Poland,
• have a certificate of proficiency in Polish as a foreign language at a level of at least C1,
• have a Polish Charter,
• have a spouse or child, or a parent or grandparent - a Polish citizen residing in Poland,
• have a temporary residence permit in connection with scientific research (art.151(1) or art.151b(1) of the Law on Foreigners.

If a student does not meet any of these conditions, he or she cannot apply for a social grant - however, the other forms of assistance (rector's scholarship, scholarship for persons with disabilities, and a financial aid grant) are available to them.

The following legal status is valid until September 30, 2025. After this date, unless changes are made, Ukrainian students will be able to apply for scholarships under the same rules as other foreign students.

Students from Ukraine who arrived in Poland after February 24, 2022.

Students from Ukraine who crossed the border into Poland after the outbreak of war (on or after February 24, 2022) can apply for a living stipend under the Special Law on Aid to Ukraine. This means that they do not have to meet the additional requirements for foreign students (posted below) and apply for the scholarship under the rules that apply to students with Polish citizenship, in addition, they must provide confirmation of having crossed the border at that time.
The Law on Assistance to Ukraine is in effect until March 4, 2026, so scholarships are awarded and paid under the above conditions until that date.

Students who arrived in Poland before February 24, 2022, and began their studies in 2019 or later:

Maintenance grants are available to students who meet one of the following conditions:

• are citizens of a member state of the European Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Iceland or a member of their family living in Poland,
• have a permanent residence permit (permanent residence card),
• Are long-term residents of the European Union,
• have a temporary residence permit to reunite with their families (the exact conditions are specified in the Aliens Act, Article 159(1) or Article 186(1)(3) or (4)),
• have been granted refugee status in Poland or enjoy temporary protection or subsidiary protection in the territory of Poland,
• have a certificate of proficiency in Polish as a foreign language at a level of at least C1,
• have a Polish Charter,
• have a spouse or child, or a parent or grandparent - a Polish citizen residing in Poland,
• have a temporary residence permit in connection with scientific research (art.151(1) or art.151b(1) of the Law on Foreigners.

However, other forms of financial aid (the Rector's scholarship, grants for students with disabilities, and emergency financial aid) remain available to them.

Scholarship applications for the 2025/26 academic year will be available in February/March 2026.

To apply, please fill out the form and submit it to the Students' Office by prior appointment. Before submitting your application, please read the information below and the regulations.

The scholarship is aimed at full-time students at the Faculty of Computer Science Bachelor's degree, who will receive an engineering degree in February and plan to take up full-time second degree studies from March of the same year. The scholarship covers the registration fee and tuition for 3 semesters of the second degree program.

Scholarship application

Scholarships are paid once a month from December (with compensation for earlier months, if warranted) until July of the following calendar year. It is not possible to pay the scholarship immediately after receiving the decision.

If you receive multiple types of scholarships, they must be paid to the same bank account number. It is not possible, for example, for the maintenance grant to be paid toward tuition fees and the rector's scholarship to a private bank account number. In the event that a student provided two different payout methods in their applications – one for tuition and one for a private account – both scholarships will be paid toward the tuition fees, unless the student submits a request declaring their preferred payout method.

If the "for tuition fees" option is indicated, the scholarship is transferred to the same account to which the tuition fees are paid. Neither the tuition fees nor any other dues are modified in any way. It is the student's responsibility to check the balance and pay the appropriate amounts accordingly.

The system is only open during specific periods (available at the bottom of the page); applications cannot be submitted outside of these times.

How to submit an application

After logging in, the student selects the specific type of scholarship they wish to apply for. By going through the subsequent screens, you will be able to see the application submission panel.

In the case of the rector's scholarship (for academic performance), additional files must be attached when the student is applying for achievements in sports, arts, or science, as well as when applying based on a GPA from another university.

In the case of the scholarship for students with disabilities, a current disability certificate must be attached.

In the case of the maintenance grant, documents confirming the income of individual family members must be attached in accordance with the regulations.

Only after attaching all the necessary files can you click "Submit application" – if this is done earlier, before attaching the files, it will not be possible to go back to complete these files.

The submitted application can be found in the scholarship system, in the 'Applications' section – please pay attention to the statuses. If the submission of the application has been started, but the generated file has not been attached, the application will have the status 'unsigned' and only by selecting this status will the application be visible. Applications that have the 'unsigned' status after the system closes will be considered unsubmitted and archived.

Statuses may change while applications are being processed. This serves as information for the student regarding the stage of the procedure, but it does not constitute an administrative decision on granting or denying the scholarship.

Information on whether or not the scholarship was awarded is an administrative decision. Such a decision can be picked up in person at the dean's office by appointment within 14 days of the email information, or one can immediately request that it be sent by snail mail (if it is not picked up within 14 days of receiving the email, it will be sent to the mailing address). If the student does not agree with the decision, within 14 days of receiving it, he/she can appeal it, that is, submit a paper letter and deliver it to the dean's office in person or send it by snail mail.
